New Year Book Tag 2020 | Jesha is a Bookworm

I was looking for a book tag to do for the New Year and I found this one. I found a few people that answered this tag over various years but I'm not sure who started it. I am not claiming this tag I just wanted to answer it..

     1. How many books are you planning to read in 2020?

I plan to read 120 book in 2020. This is a decrease from my previous years. I assumed that 120 is a good number to settle for since I do love to read regardless this year I don't plan to tax myself so much. I am happy if I reach it and alright if I don't.

The goal is just to motivate me to read more.

2. Name 5 books that you didn’t get to this past year but want to make a priority in 2020?

Another easy question. The three books I truly want to read in 2020 are:

Hammer of Thor by Rich Riordan which is the 2nd installment of the Magnus Chase Series. I have the book here but I don't have a copy of Ships of the Dead which is the reason I kept passing up the opportunity to read the book. This year even if I don't get to buy Ships of the Dead I am determined to read this.

Scythe, Thunderhead, & The Toll by Neal Shusterman this is Arc of Scythe series. I am taking this as a series so this counts as one entry for me. The series is something I was interested in from the start and never got to reading. I have the first two books in my collection but I waited until the third was released. I expect to enjoy this book because many of my friends did. I also heard from people I greatly respect in the book blog and booktube community that it is good.

The Governess Game by Tessa Dare is another book that is on my priority reads for next year. It's the second book of the Girl Meets Duke Series. I loved this first one so I wanted to read this one. To be truthful Tessa is a good writer but I've never been one to adore all of her work. She can be a hit or miss for me for some reason. This is an unpopular opinion but she is a hit or miss author for me. It's just my taste.

The Art of Sinning by Sabrina Jeffries I was hot for Sabrina's book in late 2018 to early 2019 but my adoration cooled off a bit after a realized a pattern. There would always be a sex-scene at the 60% mark of each book I read by her. And it is the 60% because it was calculated for me by Goodreads when I updated the page I was in. This predictability made me stop reading her books for the moment. I wanted to give myself a breather from her work but I've steadily bought her work and I am now ready to get back into reading them.

Slightly Married by Mary Balogh this is the first book of the Bedwyn's Saga. I didn't want to rush this read which was the reason I didn't force myself through the series last year. I was pushing deadlines for book reviews that I knew I wouldn't enjoy it as much as I would. Now that I have a back clogged of reviews to write and post I plan to finally get to that reading. Oh, and I plan to finish the series by the end of the year.

3What genre do you want to read more of?

Fantasy and Sci-Fi. It seems I forgot about this genre after I realized the world of historical romances. Back in the day I was a huge fantasy nut. I loved fairies, vampires, and witches. Mostly, witches. I adored the world building but after reading my first historical romance, Seducing an Angel by Mary Balogh I turned to that genre. I read more of that and barely any fantasy. I want to be rounded which is why I would read more fantasy.

I also plan to read non-fictions. I loved math books and history books growing up. I might refresh my brain with some of them.

4.  Name 3 not-related-to-book goals for 2020.

* Finish my thesis and internship so I can graduate
*Expand Jesha is a Bookworm
* Get a job by the end of the year

5. What’s a book you have had forever and are determined to read?

I've had a copy of Shadow Souls by LJ Smith for a few years now. I adored the Vampire Diaries when I read it in high school. I loved the first 4 books which was the reason why I got hooked. Then I bought the continuation which was The Vampire Diaries Return but hated reading Nightfall. The experience soured me so much with the series I haven't touched them. I keep them in a corner of my bookshelf hidden by other books. They will stay there until I decide to revisit my past.

This is sad since I enjoyed the first 4 books reading them few times. I got the next series for my graduation and read it immediately only to hate it. Oh, and I'm also pissed that LJ Smith hasn't finished the Nightworld series. When will the next book Strange Fate come out LJ? Oh and will come out before the decade is up because I've waited for this book for a decade now.

6.      One word that you’re hoping 2020 will be.

  1. I love reading. I used to spend hours with my nose in a book. The library was my favourite spot.

Great post! And good luck with the job search.

    1. Thanks Taryn. I hope I can get a good job that allows me to read books on my spare time or forces me to read them for work. HAHAHA.

  2. Great tag!! I love how 120 books is you not pushing it too much, I could never get to that number! Sounds like you've got some great reads coming up!

    1. That's a chill number for me since I always read. I read on my commute to school. That's four hours everyday including Saturday (I have Saturday classes)
